Friends are a necessary part of life for everyone. Friends are also necessary part of the Sewickley Township Public Library! The Friends of the Library play an important role in the success of the Library:

Fundraising:
The Friends of the Library raise funds for projects and acquisitions above and beyond the general Library budget. Some of our fundraiser activities have included:​

• Craft Show/Soup Sale (fall) 

• Hoagie Sales with Post Avenue Fundraising

• Pura Vida bracelet sales

Services
Each year the Friends do more and more for the Sewickley Township Public Library, whether through hands-on help or in-kind support. One of our biggest contributions has been sponsoring the Fantastic Final Summer Reading Program Pizza Party each year.

This past year the Final Summer Reading Program Pizza Party included; pizza, Mad Science Pittsburgh, and books for each child. The Friends also helped fund some of the prizes for the Summer Reading Program.

Public Relations
Each Friend of the Library is a walking advertisement for the Sewickley Township Public Library. Helping to spread the word about our programs and activities, and reinforcing the importance of the library in the community.

How Can You Become a Friend of the Library?
The Friends meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. You are welcome to attend one of these meetings to decide if you would like to devote your time and talents to the great cause! Bring a Friend with you!

How Much of My Time Will Be Involved?
This is entirely up to you. We know that everybody's lives are busy, particularly if you have young children to care for. But even just an hour or two a month will go a long way toward helping the Sewickley Township Public Library grow and offer more programs and services to the community!
